FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. WHO IS LAGOON BOAT COVERS STUDIO (LBCS)?

Lagoon Boat Covers Studio (LBCS) is a workshop specializing in the production of custom-made marine covers for boats, motorboats, yachts, catamarans, pontoons, and jet skis. We create covers for storage and transportation, protecting the hull and deck from sun, rain, saltwater, and other climatic impacts at marinas, docks, bays, harbors, and mooring areas.

Our expertise includes:

  • frame and frameless coverings for various yacht deck infrastructure zones;
  • reupholstery of marine (deck) furniture;
  • production of protective bags and covers for marine equipment and gear.

To provide a complete “one-stop” marine solution, we also supply marine canvas materials, hardware, accessories, and frame and fitting systems for marine cover manufacturing.

2. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING IN THE MARINE CANVAS SEGMENT?

We have been manufacturing marine covers and textile protection systems since 2003.
This long-standing experience allows us to design durable boat, yacht, and motorboat covers tailored to real operating conditions in different countries.

3. HOW CAN I ORDER A COVER FOR MY VESSEL?

You can place an order for a custom cover for your watercraft in several ways:

  • submit a text request through the Contacts section using the contact form;
  • click the Get consultation button and describe your vessel and the type of cover you need (storage cover, trailering cover, running cover, etc.);
  • fill out the application form in the Projects section, specifying your boat model, location, and the desired type of marine cover.

4. IN WHICH COUNTRIES DO YOU OPERATE?

Our studio manufactures and supplies covers for boats, motorboats, and yachts in all countries of the European Union, as well as in Turkey and Georgia.
Depending on the project, we can work both remotely or with an on-site specialist.

5. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A SPECIALIST TO VISIT THE CLIENT’S COUNTRY FOR VESSEL MEASUREMENTS?

Yes, a visit from our specialist is possible.
To keep the cost of the cover within reasonable and competitive limits, the decision regarding an on-site visit is made jointly with the client, based on the following factors:

  • vessel size;
  • complexity of its geometry;
  • surface area that needs to be covered;
  • type of required cover or frame-and-canvas construction;
  • additional project parameters that may influence the final cost.

If the cost of a specialist’s visit significantly increases the overall price of the cover, and the requested design allows us to manufacture the cover remotely (based on templates, measurements, or drawings provided by the client), we recommend remote production.

In the opposite case—when the project is large and the expenses for on-site measurements and installation are low relative to the overall cover cost—we recommend that our specialists work directly at the vessel’s location.

6. WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

We support the following secure and legally compliant payment methods for EU-based corporate transactions:

  • Direct bank transfer (SWIFT / wire transfer). Payment can be made to our company bank account based on an issued invoice. This is the primary and most widely used method for international orders.
  • SEPA transfers. SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) enables fast and low-cost euro transfers within Europe. SEPA payments are supported by almost all banks and financial institutions across the EU.
  • Card payments (VISA / MasterCard) — optional line if you decide to activate Stripe/PayPal later. Can be enabled upon request via an online payment link or invoice-based card processing.

7. HOW IS THE PAYMENT FOR A CUSTOM BOAT (YACHT, CATAMARAN, PONTOON, JET SKI) COVER PROCESSED?

Since the production of marine covers is a fully customized process — taking into account the unique geometry of hulls and deck structures, even within the same series or model — a minimum upfront payment of 50–70% is required when placing an order.
The exact amount depends on the complexity of the project, the selected materials, hardware and accessories, as well as the presence or absence of frame-based support systems.

8. WHICH TRANSPORT SERVICES DO YOU USE FOR DELIVERING REMOTELY MANUFACTURED COVERS?

Delivery of completed covers produced remotely for the client is carried out through international shipping companies such as MEEST, Nova Global, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and others, provided that these carriers offer parcel pick-up points or door-to-door courier delivery in the customer’s country.

You can also collect the finished cover in person from our production facility in Bulgaria, or from our logistics location in Ukraine, if this option is more convenient for you.

9. WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU USE FOR MARINE COVERS?

At Lagoon Boat Covers Studio (LBCS), we work exclusively with certified marine-grade fabrics from leading global manufacturers.

Our primary fabric brands include:

  • Sunbrella (USA/EU) – premium acrylic marine canvas
  • Sattler (Austria/EU) – high-performance acrylic fabrics
  • Sauleda (Spain/EU) – durable outdoor acrylics
  • Docril (EU) – UV-resistant acrylic canvas
  • Discovery, Navigator, Odyssey (USA/EU/Asia) – high-density polyester (130–270D)
  • Oxford (China/EU) – practical polyester for budget covers
  • Markilux (Germany) – advanced outdoor/awning fabrics
  • Valmex / Solera (EU) – coated PVC for heavy-duty, waterproof applications

10. WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR DIFFERENT CLIMATES?

Recommended materials for different climates

  • Hot and high-UV climates (Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Southern France).
    For regions with intense sun and high UV exposure, we recommend acrylic marine fabrics such as Sunbrella, Sattler, Sauleda, and Docril. These materials offer the strongest UV resistance, slow fading, excellent breathability, and long service life under continuous sunlight.
  • Moderate European climates (Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands).
    In balanced climates, both high-quality acrylic fabrics (Sunbrella, Sattler, Sauleda, Docril) and high-density polyesters (Discovery, Navigator, Odyssey) perform well, offering a good combination of durability, waterproofing, and cost-efficiency.
  • Cold, wet, and northern climates (Scandinavia, Baltic countries, UK).
    In regions with moisture, frost, and long rainy seasons, coated polyester (Odyssey, Navigator), PVC-coated technical fabrics (Valmex, Solera), Cordura nylon, and premium acrylics (Sunbrella, Sattler) provide the best long-term weather protection and mechanical durability.
  • Budget-friendly or temporary covers.
    For seasonal storage or transport covers, economical materials such as Oxford polyester, standard 130–270D polyester (Discovery, Navigator), or reinforced Cordura nylon (suitable for demanding transportation conditions) are practical solutions.
  • How we select materials for clients.
    When recommending fabrics, we consider the climate of your region, the boat’s geometry, the functional purpose of the cover (storage, transport, cruising, wintering), your durability expectations and budget, as well as UV intensity, humidity levels, and local weather specifics.

11. CAN I ORDER MULTIPLE COVERS FOR DIFFERENT ZONES ON THE YACHT?

Yes, of course. We can produce a full range of custom marine covers within a single yacht project, including all open or semi-open functional zones across different decks. Depending on the yacht’s layout, this may include the cockpit, bow sunbathing areas, stern lounges, flybridge terraces, upper-deck dining or relaxation spaces, outdoor galley or bar areas, jacuzzi or pool zones, open-air cinema or entertainment decks, party or dance platforms, helm and navigation zones, tender storage sections, jet-ski launch platforms, side walkways, winter enclosure areas, bimini or hard-top extensions, sprayhoods and other protective elements.

When developing a multi-zone cover concept, we select the appropriate fabric and structural solution based on:

  • the vessel type
  • speed characteristics
  • climate conditions of the region (UV exposure, humidity levels)
  • and the geometry and size of each individual cover or frame-and-canvas construction.

This allows us to create a coordinated, durable and aesthetically unified covering system tailored to the operational environment of your yacht.

12. WHAT HARDWARE AND FITTINGS DO YOU USE FOR YOUR MARINE COVERS?

We work exclusively with marine-grade AISI 316 stainless steel hardware, anodized aluminum fittings and UV-resistant technical plastics. For fastening canvas to the hull and frame we use premium marine fasteners such as DOT® / Scovill, TENAX®, and LOXX®, as well as YKK® VISLON® marine zippers (#8 / #10) for doors, windows, and removable enclosure panels.

For bimini frames, cockpit enclosures and structural tent systems we rely on globally recognized marine hardware: Osculati®, Sea-Dog®, TACO Marine®, Wichard®, Ronstan®, Lewmar®, and Bozamet® (Poland) — a reputable European manufacturer known for durable stainless-steel fittings, deck hinges, clamps and frame components commonly used in boat canvas installations.

All components we use are widely available across the EU, ensuring easy future maintenance and replacement. Each project is equipped with hardware selected specifically for the boat’s geometry to ensure durability, secure load-bearing, and long-term corrosion resistance in saltwater conditions.
